16 Days of Activism - Day 5

Understanding Violence Against Women

In order to act against Gender Based Violence (GBV), we must understand the evil of Gender Based Violence. Violence Against Women (VAW), a large part of GBV, is a complex and layered reality for too many in our world. Please explore this interactive resource from UN Women to better understand areas of VAW, including Intimate partner Violence, Sexual Violence, Human Trafficking, Female Genital Mutilation, and Child Marriage.

Faith in Action challenge: Learn more about the statistics and specifics of GBV in your geo-political area.

Let us pray: Lord Jesus, in this season of Advent, we hear your promise that the Kingdom of God is near. Empower us to help in the coming of your kingdom, by responding to the earthly evil of Gender Based Violence with actions of prayer, support, and advocacy. Inspire us to be agents of change to help bring into this realm the glory of your realm. In the name of the one for whom we wait; Jesus the Christ. Amen.
